About
Me... Your Teachers for the
2007-2008
school year!
Kevin Needham
I
was
born in Chicago Heights, IL (there’s the Bears/Cubs
connection!), but shortly thereafter my family moved to
Appleton, WI, which became my home for fourteen years.
Another move brought us to Watertown, WI, and I am now
raising my own family here in Saginaw.
I enjoy all things musical – bands, choirs,
CDs, trombones, etc. I especially enjoy spending time with
my wife, Janna, and our children—Olivia and Caleb. We like
time together at home, but also going on little trips to
explore Michigan and to visit grandmas and grandpas in
Wisconsin and Minnesota.
I truly
enjoy all parts of my calling here at St. Paul’s – 4th
and 8th grades, band, chorus, and now adult
choir. Working in a Christian environment, and helping the
students to learn the wonders of God and his created world,
are a wonderful blessing!
Linda Wiles
I was born on February 4,
1960, in Chicago Heights, Illinois. I grew up in Calumet
City – and later Crete, IL, the only girl with three younger
brothers. My “home” congregation was Trinity Lutheran Church
in Crete.
After high school, I attended
Dr. Martin Luther College, graduating in 1982. My first
call was to Bethany Lutheran School here in Saginaw. I
taught grades 1-4 and 2-4 from 1982-88. I also taught
grades 3-5 at Bethany for the 1991-92 school year and grades
6-8 in 1999-2000. I have taught at St. Paul's since 2002.
I met Bob Wiles (the older
brother of one of my students!) at Bethany, and we married
in July of 1987. We just celebrated our 19th
anniversary. Bob and I have a 14 year old daughter Amanda,
who is a freshman at Michigan Lutheran Seminary this year. Our other
“family member” is a 6 year old golden retriever named Lily.
In my spare time, I enjoy
reading and scrapbooking.

Nancy Borchard
I was born in Saginaw, the
oldest of three children. I attended parochial grade school
and after public high school, enrolled at Delta College. I
studied there for two years, transferring to Central
Michigan University where I received, in 1973, a Bachelor’s
degree in Education, with a concentration in Special
Education. After getting married in 1974 and teaching for
several years in the public schools, I resigned from
teaching to start a family. It was during this time when I
was doing some substitute teaching at St. Paul’s that I
received a call to teach Kindergarten. After accepting the
call, I enrolled at Dr. Martin Luther College where I took
correspondence classes and summer classes on campus to
receive Synod Certification.
Roger and I have two children,
Amy and Jason. I have taught at St. Paul’s since 1984 and
currently am teaching Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten.
Nancy Beyersdorf
Nancy
Schroeder Beyersdorf was born in Iowa and graduated from Dr.
Martin Luther College in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science and
Education Degree. Her first call was to Bethany Lutheran
School, Saginaw, MI. She taught there for two years in
grades 4 to 8. She married John Beyersdorf and they have
two daughters. In 1979, St. Paul’s Lutheran School called
her to teach Kindergarten. She taught in that class for
five years and then was asked to teach full time in second
grade. She has been teaching that level for the past 18
years. She also teaches sixth grade Social Studies,
coordinates Parent Teacher Group, and coaches volleyball.
In l983 she obtained her Masters Degree in Elementary
Education from Michigan State University.
Mr.
Matthew Groth
Matt grew up in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, where he attended
Manitowoc Lutheran High School. He graduated from Martin
Luther College in 2000. Matt married Kristin (Goodger),
also a 2000 MLC graduate, that June. Since his graduation,
Matt served at St. Philip’s (Beautiful Savior) Lutheran
School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, teaching math and 7th
and 8th grades. Matt and Kristin have two
daughters, Rachel, who is 17 months old and Emma, who is 4
months old. Matt and Kristin would like to thank all of
those who gave to the food shower, and also the many people
who have welcomed their family to St. Paul’s.
Mrs. Leanne Prange (1st
grade)
Leanne attended Martin Luther Preparatory School, Prairie du
Chien, Wisconsin and Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm,
Minnesota, to prepare for the teaching ministry. Her first
classroom was in Saginaw at Bethany Lutheran School. Since
then she has served at St. John, Bay City; East Fork
Lutheran School, Whiteriver, Arizona; Christ, Shields; St.
Luke, Saginaw; and Michigan Lutheran Seminary. Leanne is
married to Paul, and they have three children, Anna (8th
grade), Maria (7th grade) and Joel (5th
grade). She is delighted to be teaching first grade at St.
Paul’s!
Miss Audrey Metzger
(5th Grade)
Our new
teacher, Audrey Metzger, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, the
first child of Tom and Brenda Metzger. She has two younger
brothers, Glenn and Kurt, both of whom are also at MLC,
training for the teaching ministry.
Audrey
and her family have lived in several places around the
country, including Pennsylvania, Ohio, Colorado, and
Michigan. For the past 9 years here home has been Livonia,
Michigan, where she was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran
Church. In 2003, Audrey graduated from Huron Valley
Lutheran High School, Westland, Michigan, (a WELS area
Lutheran high school), and then enrolled at Martin Luther
College studying elementary education, with an emphasis in
music. Audrey will be teaching fourth and fifth grade and
playing organ.
Audrey
appreciates the warm welcome from the members here at St.
Paul’s. She is excited to begin her ministry here. She
would also like to thank her family for their support during
her training for the teaching ministry.
