MISSION FOR FEBRUARY AND MARCH
The students will be using their gifts to the Savior for a local mission.
Michigan Lutheran Seminary, our WELS preparatory school here in Saginaw,
will be the focus of the offerings for the next two months. The MLS handbook
states, 'Under God, Michigan Lutheran Seminary prepares young people for a
lifetime of service to the Lord Jesus Christ.' If you would like to learn
more about MLS, please go to the website at
www.mlsem.org.
Professor Andrew Nauman from MLS will be speaking to the students after our
monthly chapel service next Tuesday, February 7. You are invited to come to
chapel and stay for the MLS presentation. Chapel begins at 8:15.
REPORT CARDS
If you have not returned your child(ren)'s report card envelope, please
return it tomorrow.
ACCOUNT REGISTERS
Account Registers are being sent home today with the oldest child in each
family. All school bills are due on or before Monday, February 6th. If you
have any questions, please call the school office.
MLS SCIENCE AND FINE ARTS FAIR, GRADES 3-8
The MLS Science and Fine Arts Fair will be held on Saturday, March 3rd. All
applications must be filled out and returned by this Friday, February 3rd.
(Mrs. Wiles will take care of filling out spelling forms.)
FINE ARTS FAIR--MUSIC
If any student still needs help finding instrumental music for the Fine Arts
Fair, please talk to Mr. Needham by tomorrow, so we can see if we can find
something for you!
MUSIC FESTIVAL
Information about the upcoming Lutheran School Music Festival, held at
Bethlehem-Saginaw on Friday, April 27th, will be coming home next week.
If you’re interested in piano/instrumental/vocal solos and duets, start
finding music! (Some students choose to play the same music which they
played for the MLS Fine Arts Fair.) The registration forms will be due
earlier than they ever have been--Friday, February 24th!
P.T.G. WINTER PICNIC
We are in need of help for our upcoming PTG Picnic with set up, clean up,
ice cream serving and face painting. The picnic this year will be on Sunday,
March 4th, at 12:30 p.m. Please contact Jennifer Martin (799-8523) for more

SATURDAY BASKETBALL
-
Mrs. Wiles
Only one more practice remaining! We begin games on Feb. 11th, here at home.
(No one has contacted me, so that means everyone has schedules, right?)
Boys, you have the early practice one more time (9:00 - 10:30) and girls
have the later one (10:30 - noon). See you Saturday!
SPELLING BEES
- Mrs. Wiles
The next two practice bees will have words from the MLS list that I
gave you yesterday. Once you've learned all of YOUR words, start on the next
highest level. (Eighth graders, you can drop down a level!)
BIG G BOXTOPS
Another submission will be sent in at the end of February. If you have box
tops at home, please be sure to send them to school by February 15th. Thank
you!
WILDCAT BAND
Last week went great, so I’d like to schedule one final pep band performance
this year—next Wednesday, February 8. Band members should meet on stage by
the beginning of the 4th Quarter of the girls’ game (around 5:10
P.M.).
SPECIAL PRAYER
Please keep Mrs. Paulette McKinney in your prayers. Mrs. McKinney, who
teaches woodwind lessons on Tuesdays at St. Paul’s, suffered a stroke last
week at her home. As of last week, she was at Covenant in Saginaw. This
week, students of Mrs. McKinney signed “Get Well” cards, which were mailed
to her home. We pray that God would speed her recovery.
NEW WOODWINDS INSTRUCTOR
After asking around, I have found a replacement woodwinds instructor to take
Mrs. McKinney’s place for the time being. Mr. Jim Hargett, a former band
instructor at North and South Middle Schools, and who currently conducts the
Saginaw Eddy Concert Band and plays in the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra,
will be giving lessons for the indefinite future. Mr. Hargett was already
here yesterday to give lessons, and it seemed that both students and
instructor were adjusting well to the new situation.
